A flood of confusion has surrounded Scarborough Athletic target Lamin Colley's recent switch to Boston.
Just three weeks ago Colley had committed to Boro and was quoted in The Scarborough News saying: "I'm looking forward to it, I can't wait to get going.
"I'm dropping down a level or two, but sometimes you have to do that to go back up and I want to do that with Scarborough.
"The manager Steve Kittrick got in touch with me, sold me the club and said that he wants to be in the Conference North in two seasons, that sounds good to me."
Colley who also turned up to Boro's kit launch, has since turned his back on this commitment to the Evo-Stik North club to join up with Boston, who ply their trade in the Conference North.
He was quoted in the Boston Standard saying: "I spoke to Jason St Juste and was just asking him how he was as we are friends after playing at Bradford together.
“He said he’s playing for Boston and I told him I had no club.
“He said he’d speak to the manager, so he had a word and he told me to come down.
“He’s a good lad, just looking out for me. I was going to drop down two leagues below - but he wasn’t having that.
“It’s a good thing and I’m glad I didn’t.”
When asked about the situation Boro boss Steve Kittrick said: "It was very confusing because a deal had been done."
