A popular gospel choir are set to wow the crowds at a festive fundraising concert in Scarborough.

The York City Gospel Choir will appear at Queen Street Methodist Church on Saturday December 14 at 2pm.

The event is raising money for Guide Dogs and tickets are on sale now priced at £7.50 from Queen Street Methodist Church and Westborough Methodist Church.

The choir performs gospel songs by well-known gospel artists and original songs by musical director, Kofi Mensah. The music can be described as contemporary/urban gospel.

The choir performs a broad repertoire for occasions including charity concerts, church outreach events, weddings, corporate functions and community events.

This event will help provide much-needed funding for the Guide Dogs charity, as each guide dog partnership involves 20 months of training, seven years of support –and costs around £50,000.

The costs include £1,900 to breed a guide dog puppy, £5,100 on puppy walking, £15,400 early training, £9,300 advanced training, £3,200 partnership training and £13,000 on supporting a working partnership.
