Contest to find best snaps of nature reserves

VISITORS to South Yorkshire nature reserves are being asked to enter a nature photography competition.

The RSPB is launching a contest this weekend called The Nature of the Dearne Valley, which will culminate in May next year in a travelling exhibition of the finest pictures. The top prize is a day’s personal tuition from professional wildlife photographer, Craig Jones.

The competition will have six different themes, each running for a two-month period. They include people in nature, images of winter and pictures of local heritage.

The competition is open to two age groups - under 13 years old and over 13.

All photographs must be taken on one of the RSPB’s six reserves in the Dearne Valley. Prizes, including gift vouchers and photography books, have been sponsored by The Park Inn Rotherham, and Dearne Valley Green Heart among others.
