FOUR culinary novices are planning to cook up some fun in Cloughton next week.

They will compete in a fundraising event based on Ainsley Harriott’s former TV show Ready, Steady, Cook.

Jezz Pratt, Steve Chambers and Tim Osborne, who are performing in the village panto this Christmas, will be joined on the kitchen-stage by Darren Todd.

Working in pairs, they will be dubbed the red-tomato and green-pepper teams.

It is in aid of St Mary’s Church in Cloughton and will take place at the church hall on Thursday November 24, at 7pm.

“We expect it to be an amusing show,” says church warden Christine Randall, who organised a similar event two years ago. It raised a few hundred pounds.

“They always manage to raise great hilarity from their performance in the panto and we are expecting this humour to continue whilst they cook up a treat for the audience to try,” says Mrs Randall.

“It’s a fun evening – brilliant entertainment.”

As the hall is small, only 80 tickets are available, and 55 have already been sold.

The event host will be Carol Towner of Pampered Chef, which is supplying the catering equipment, and will be selling culinary products.

Light refreshments will be available.

Tickets cost £3 and can be booked by ringing 07939 230519.
