Coulson was joined by a host of players, old and new, at the session in York, ahead of what will be their opening pre-season game against the Scarborough Saturday League Rep Team at Silver Royd on Tuesday.

He said: “The first training session went well, it was good to get back with the lads and also meet the new boys, who all seemed great.

“It was a tough session but everyone got through it well and I’m sure we will be a fit team come the start of the season, just like we were last year.

“I am really excited about getting back on the pitch now though, we have had a good break and feel ready for it.

“We have some good friendlies to look forward to and also the release of the league fixtures, whichis something I’m sure everyone will be keeping a close eye on.”

Meanwhile, the new-look Boro Under-19 management team of Denny Ingram and Ryan Blott cast their eye over potential players during a trials session at the Flamingo Land Stadium.

Around 30 players turned up for the trial leaving former Boro and Scarborough FC men Blott and Ingram with some decisions to make.

Ingram said: “It was a great turn-out for the trial, which was excellent news for us and the club.

“I thought it was very positive with what was on show.

“It has given us some tough decisions to make, but we are both excited about what lies ahead in the future.

“We have a couple of pre-season games coming up, so we’ll be able to have another look at the players we will ask back.

“After that we’ll be making a final decision about the squad we have for the season ahead.”
