Council decides on new posts

COUNCILLORS have been chosen to fill vacant posts on various Scarborough Council committees which sit during the current session.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the full council yesterday with members opting for a paper vote where there were more candidates than available places.

After the ballot:

- Cllr Geoff Evans was named as the chairman of the Service Performance Overview and Scrutiny Committee

- Cllr Colin Challen was named as the chairman of the Corporate Strategy Overview and Scrutiny Committee

- And Cllr John Ritchie was named as the vice chairman of the Projects and Partnerships Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

During the meeting councillors also voted by a show of hands to appoint:

- Cllr Godfrey Allanson as the chairman of Projects and Partnerships Overview and Scrutiny Committee

- Cllr Dilys Cluer as the vice chairman of the Corporate Strategy Overview and Scrutiny Committee

- Cllr Tim Lawn as the vice chairman of the Service Performance Overview and Scrutiny Committee

- Cllr Joe Plant as the chairman and Cllr Herbert Tindall as the vice chairman of the Human Resources Overview and Scrutiny Committee

- Cllr Brian Watson as the chairman and Cllr James Preston as the vice chairman of the Licensing Committee

- Cllr Helen Mallory as the chairman and Cllr Colin Challen as the vice chairman of the Audit Committee

- Cllr Herbert Tindall as the chairman and Cllr Sandra Turner as the vice chairman of the Northern Area Committee

- Cllr Dave Billing as the chairman and Cllr Dilys Cluer as the vice chairman of the Central Urban Area Committee.
