Andrew Rowe, the council’s housing manager, said: “We are very excited to be able to support these new initiatives providing measures such as wall insulation, loft insulation, room in roof insulation and in some cases replacement boilers or new heating systems, to our residents’ homes.

“We believe this could help many households in the borough to make their homes warmer and reduce their heating bills. For many residents, the energy efficiency measures will be free.”

Funding is available to homeowners and tenants of private landlords, subject to qualifying criteria.
