Former Scarborough lorry driver David Ian Plant has been cleared of all charges relating to allegations of rape and sexual abuse of two young girls over 30 apart.
Plant, 66, of Edgehill Road, had denied a total of 11 charges, including five of rape, when he appeared for trial before York Crown Court.
On Thursday (August 15) the jury of six men and six women returned unanimous not guilty verdicts on all the charges - having been previously directed by the judge during the trial to return not guilty verdicts on one of the rape and one of the indecent assault allegations.
Plant said he had no idea why the alleged victims were saying that he had done anything to them.
His wife told the jury that her husband had been a hardworking family man and good father and had been shocked by the allegations, some of which dated back to 1978.
