Appeal after fire helmet is stolen from station

POLICE are investigating after a fireman’s helmet was stolen from Scarborough Fire Station.

The helmet, which is fluorescent green with the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service crest on the front, was taken from the North Marine Road station in the early hours of Sunday July 24.

The suspect is believed to have entered the fire station some time between midnight and 1am and removed the helmet from the bay where the fire engines are parked.

PC Holly Hornsby, of Scarborough police, said: “It is possible that due to the time the incident occurred the suspect may have been seen wearing the helmet around town.”
