Appeal for wallet thieves

Scarborough police are hunting thieves after a wallet containing hundreds of pounds was stolen from a town flat.

The thieves gained access to a property in Fieldside, through an unlocked front door, between 1.45pm and 2.05pm yesterday.

They took the leather wallet before fleeing the scene.

PC Lee Smith, of Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I ask anyone who can identify the thief to come forward and contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.

“I would also like to remind residents that they should always lock their doors, even if they are only leaving the property for a short time.”

Anyone with information should contact Scarborough police on 101, press option two and ask for PC Lee Smith.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 12120095605.
