Attempted murder charge for stabbing suspect

The Hawsker man suspected of stabbing a holiday maker outside the Hare and Hounds pub in High Hawsker has this evening been charged with attempted murder.

Michael Turford, 31, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday at 10am.

The victim, a 30-year-old man from Belper, Derbyshire, remains in a stable condition at James Cook University Hospital on Teesside.

Matthew Boyes is landlord at the Hare and Hounds and said Turford was a regular customer who often frequented the pub as well as the bar at York House, where an earlier altercation is alleged to have occurred between the suspect and victim.
