A biker has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car near Scarborough as police launch an appeal for witnesses.

The crash happened at the junction of the A170 and B1258 in Snainton when the biker's black Kawasaki motorbike and a bronze coloured Kia hatchback collided yesterday afternoon at 1.50pm.

The biker suffered a broken hip socket, wrist and rib after taking evasive action.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for the public's help to establish what happened.

A police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who recalls seeing the vehicle(s) prior to the collision, to get in touch as soon as possible to assist the investigation.

"In particular, we are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, particularly any motorists who may have dashcam footage of the collision."
