POLICE in Scarborough are investigating the theft of a car in the town.

A white VW Polo was stolen between 5.30pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday from an address in Albion Crescent.

Police say that at the time of the theft there was only a small amount of petrol in the car, meaning whoever stole it will have needed to put fuel in it.

PC James Barker, of the Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the theft or knows where the car is now.

“I am particularly interested in hearing from staff at local filling stations who may have either seen a white VW Polo being fuelled or served someone who filled a fuel can at the time of the theft.”
