Children injured in hit and run incident


Police want to speak to the driver of a car who left the scene of an accident on Cayton Low Road in Eastfield.

A 12-year-old girl and a boy, aged 15, suffered minor injuries to their feet when they were struck by a saloon-type car on a pedestrian crossing, near Morrisons, on Friday at around 4pm.

It is alleged the vehicle ran the red light of the crossing and hit both pedestrians.

The youngsters were treated by paramedics and then taken by ambulance to Scarborough Hospital.

Police enquiries are ongoing to locate the car and the driver who failed to stop at the scene of the collision.
