Drink-driver arrested in Scarborough following tip-off

Police who stopped a motorist in Scarborough after a tip-off found they were three times the legal drink-drive limit.

North Yorkshire Police received a call on Saturday, at about 9.35pm, concerning the way in which a yellow Kia was being driven around the town.

The car was seen by two officers on Newborough, as well as CCTV controllers, and the driver was stopped and breathalysed in Eastborough.

The breath test reading showed 127 mcg of alcohol in 100 ml of breath; the legal limit is 35.

Police thanked the person who reported the manner of driving, and said on a busy Saturday night the arrest had prevented a potentially serious accident.
