A FORMER arms dealer who lives in the Scarborough area is set to give evidence at an extradition hearing at the High Court in Copenhagen this week.
Peter Bleach, who spent eight years in an Indian prison after being convicted of taking part in an illegal weapons drop in India, said he intended to speak out against efforts to extradite the alleged ringleader of the plot.
The 60-year-old said Danish man Kim Davy was entitled to a fair trial and he did not believe Davy could get one in India.
Mr Bleach was given a life sentence over a plot to parachute an arsenal of weapons to rebels in remote Western Bengal. He has vowed to clear his name.
By the time he was freed in 2004, following the intervention of former Prime Minister Tony Blair, his defence sales business Aeroserve UK, which he ran from his former home, Howdale House, on the North York Moors, near Ravenscar, had collapsed and he found himself jobless back in Scarborough.
