The heartbroken family of tragic teenager Michael ‘Angel’ Graham have praised police for bringing his killer to justice.
But in an emotional statement released after Macauley Jenkinson was caged for his murder, they say their lives were “shattered” when he was brutally killed in April.
The full statement issued by the family reads: “In the early hours of Sunday 14 April 2013, our lives were shattered by the news that Mickey, also known to his friends as Angel, had died.
“Not only have we lost a son, grandson, brother, nephew and a dad, we have also lost a friend who loved his family and was always there for us when we needed him, no matter what.
“He was a good friend to many and we would especially like to thank one of his best friends who was with him at the end.
“It is a great comfort for us to know that Mickey was with such a close friend. He is also a victim in this case and our thoughts are with him and his family at this time, as they also struggle to come to terms with what happened.
“We would like to thank North Yorkshire Police for their hard work in bringing this person to justice, in particular we would like to thank our two family liaison officers who have been with us throughout.
“We would also like to thank Mr Roberts and Mr Adlington who presented the case at court.
“We hope that Mickey can now rest in peace and we are allowed to get on with our own lives and continue to grieve in private.”
