Franklin Street incident in Scarborough: Man on roof is released on bail

A man arrested after climbing on to a rooftop in Scarborough yesterday has been released on bail.

A police negotiator was called and a cordon was put in place for several hours while he was on the roof at Franklin Street yesterday morning.

The 35-year-old was then arrested on suspicion of assault and taken to Scarborough Hospital to be checked over.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said he has since been released on conditional bail to allow for further enquiries.
