Fresh appeal after traffic accident

POLICE are renewing their appeal for a driver to come forward following a road accident in Malton.

It occurred between 3.25pm and 3.40pm on Thursday December 22, as an 89-year-old woman crossed Finkle Street from the market place. As she walked behind the car, parked close to Escape hairdressers, it reversed slowly, knocking her down.

Following information received from a member of the public police are able to give a more detailed description of the vehicle involved, believed to be a silver Vauxhall Vectra. As well as the man who was driving the car, there was a woman in the front passenger seat. Both the driver and passenger are described as being in their 20s.

The woman who was injured has now moved into a residential home as a result of the incident.

TC Paul Merritt, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said: “I would like to thank the witnesses for coming forward and providing the additional information about the vehicle involved in this collision.”
