Hanging basket thefts probe

POLICE are probing a spate of hanging basket thefts in the Hunmanby area.

Residents in Howes Road, Thornton Road and Grimston Road have reported the thefts, which are believed to have taken place on Tuesday.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said at least six householders are believed to have been affected.

They are keen to trace a red van seen in the vicinity at the time, which has also been linked to similar theft in Flixton.

Police are also investigating an unrelated incident at the Flower of May Holiday Park in Lebberston.

Three caravans, which were next to each other, were broken into on Friday July 1.

Nothing was stolen, but it is thought the culprit used the caravans to cook themselves some food, as pans were left out.
