‘Humiliating attack’ by man on partner

A SCARBOROUGH man subjected his partner to a “humiliating attack”, Scarborough Magistrates’ Court heard.

Stuart Fordyce, 43, of Wain Close, committed assault on January 23. He admitted the charge at an earlier hearing.

Katy Varlow, prosecuting, said Fordyce had barged into the bathroom when the victim was sat on the toilet.

He then pushed her into the sink causing a mark to her hand. Fordyce then followed her into the kitchen. The assault continued on the driveway of the property, after Fordyce pushed her outside. The victim was pushed into a wheelie bin, hurting her left elbow. Fordyce then locked the door behind her.

Ian Brickman, mitigating, said: “This was a stormy relationship.

“He is a gentleman with no relevant convictions.

“He is devastated to find himself before the court. He wishes to apologise for what has occurred.”

He added: “The relationship is now at an end.”

Fordyce was given a 24-month supervision order and told to complete a domestic abuse programme. He will also pay £160 in compensation and costs.
