Hunt for man after break in at Royal Hotel reception

The hunt is on to find a man suspected of an attempted burglary at one of Scarborough’s town centre hotels.

Scarborough police have released images of a man they want to speak to after he was caught breaking a window at the Royal Hotel, in St Nicholas Street at around 4.30am on Saturday, December 15.

He then entered the premises before going behind the reception desk, and eventually left the hotel via the front door at around 4.45am.

The man is white, medium build with short dark hair, and was wearing a light coloured top and dark gloves.

PC Tom Wilkinson, of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If this is you on camera and there is an innocent explanation for your actions I urge you to contact the police so that the matter can be cleared up.

“I also need to talk to anyone who can name the man.”
