Knife robbery: Store hit for second time this year

Detectives are hunting for a pair of knife-wielding robbers, after a Scarborough shop was raided for the second time this year.

Police are scouring CCTV footage after the Costcutter store in Wreyfield Drive was hit on Thursday 1 May.

The duo burst into the store at around 6pm, threatening staff members with knives as they demanded cash.

They then fled in the direction of Barrowcliffe Road.

Officers are remaining tight-lipped as to whether the duo made off with any cash, although it’s understood that any cash stolen was minimal.

Police sources say that the robbers were covering their faces with scarves. Both were wearing tracksuits.

The force say there’s no reason to link the latest robbery at the store with the incident in January, for which four people were arrested and later bailed by police.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses following a knife-point the latest robbery, and officers are urging the public to help identify the offenders.
