Male, 47, of Trentham Drive, appeared at Hull Magistrates Court on Saturday morning and is scheduled to appear at Hull Crown Court on Tuesday, March 31.

Humberside Police Chief Constable Lee Freeman said: “Assaults on any emergency worker are completely and utterly unacceptable and I will continue to raise this issue as I will never accept it as a normal part of the job.

“Police officers are there to protect the public and while they will always run towards danger as part of their duty and service to keep people safe, they should not have to endure or experience any form of violence against them whilst just doing their job.”
