A 50-year-old Scarborough man is set to appear at crown court this week charged with 18 sex offences against boys.

Alan Stephen Fisher, of Manham Hill in Eastfield, was charged with the offences on April 3 following a joint investigation by detectives from North Yorkshire Police and Humberside Police.

Fisher, previously known as Alan Watson, appeared at Bridlington Magistrates Court on April 4, and was remanded in custody to appear at Hull Crown Court on Thursday, April 11 April.

The charges include six offences committed in the Scarborough area.

Five took place between 1991 and 2001 and one occurred in September 2012.

All the Scarborough offences were against boys aged under 16.

The remainder were committed in Bridlington between 1991 and 2003 and were against boys aged under 16, one aged 16 and one aged 17.

Detective Constable Lucie Welford, of Scarborough CID, said: “Anyone who has been subjected to any from of sexual abuse should not hesitate to contact the police.

“North Yorkshire Police and Humberside Police have specially trained officers who work in dedicated protection units across the forces. As well as investigating the crime, they can also provide advice about other support services, separate from the police, which are available to victims of sexual and violent crime.

“You can either call the police non-emergency number 101, or in an emergency or if your safety is threatened, please always call 999.”
