A Scarborough man has appeared in court charged with engaging in a sex act in the presence of a child.
Michael Atherton, of Ingle Close, stood before Scarborough Magistrates’ Court today, accused of carrying out the act in front of a 12-year-old.
Atherton, 40, also faces allegations of distributing an indecent photograph and possessing an indecent image.
He spoke only to confirm his name and address during a brief hearing and did not enter a plea to any of the charges.
Atherton was remanded in custody until June 22, when he will reappear at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court.
His case is expected to be committed to York Crown Court later this year.
