Police have arrested a man this evening after negotiators were bought in to talk him down off a roof.
It happened after police went to arrest the man at an address in Queen Street, just after 7pm.
Duty manager Tim Reed, from North Yorkshire Police, said the man, who is his 20s, went onto the roof and started throwing down roof tiles.
He said: "We went to knock on a door and the male had gone out from the flat onto the roof of the building.
"He was reluctant to come with us.
"We kept the roads closed to protect the public.
"We had the negotiators and he returned into the premises and he was detained around 9.30pm."
As well as police, the fire and ambulance service attended.
