A MAN hit his partner across the face over a video showing her dancing with another man in a club, a Scarborough court heard.
Scarborough Magistrates Court was told Graeme Dean, 55, slapped the woman on her mouth with the back of his hand.
Prosecuting, Katie Varlow said Dean, of Helmsley, caused the woman’s lip to bleed with the force of the blow.
She said: “The woman was out with friends dancing with a gentleman.
“It was completely innocent and her friends filmed her.
“He went to the establishment the following night and friends showed him it and said he was quite quiet.
“The couple went to the pub together and on the way home had an argument about the video.
“He slapped her across the mouth causing her lip to bleed.”
Mitigating, Robert Vining said Dean regretted the incident.
He said: “The relationship carries on and he has apologised.
“He accepts that he got the wrong end of the stick.
“There was a certain amount of teasing when he was shown the video and he thought there was no smoke without fire.”
Magistrates adjourned the case for three weeks for the preparation of pre-sentence reports.
