Man in court over shooting

A SCARBOROUGH man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder.

Matthew Davis, 28, appeared at Leeds Crown Court yesterday after an incident in High Garth, Eastfield, when a 36-year-old man received a gunshot wound to the leg.

Davis, of Pavilion Terrace, also faced a charge of possession of a shotgun with intent to endanger life.

During a brief hearing, Davis spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.

A plea and case management hearing was set for July 12.

A three-day trial was set for October 8.

Davis was remanded in custody.
