Motorist arrested on suspicion of drug driving in Eastfield, Scarborough

A driver on his way to pick up a friend whose car had been seized by police in Scarborough last night was also stopped  - and arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

One of several cars stopped by police around the Scarborough area last night.

Officers had stopped a car at a petrol station and seized the vehicle when they found he did not have any insurance.

He rang a friend to ask for a lift home but on his way, that driver was stopped in his Audi by different officers in Eastfield.

He failed a drugs test, testing positive for cocaine, and was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

Also last night, police arrested the driver of a black Ford Focus on suspicion of drug driving in Scarborough after the driver tested positive for cannabis.

In Malton, officers seized a Volkswagen after the driver was found without insurance.

And in Ganton, a driver was stopped and reported for overtaking a HGV where there was a solid white line.
