A MAN who was arrested at Filey Library on Saturday was yesterday charged with the murder of a 77-year-old pensioner.
Graeme Jarman, of County Durham, will appear in court today in Newcastle.
He was arrested following a nationwide manhunt after the discovery of Judith Richardson’s body in the hallway of her home in Hexham, Northumberland, on August 19.
Police were tipped-off by a member of staff at the library who recognised Jarman.
Miss Richardson never married and lived alone in a stone-built terraced home.
A post-mortem examination revealed she died from head injuries and a hammer was found nearby.
