Police and fire service investigating after fire at property in Northstead, Scarborough

Police and fire officials are carrying out investigations after a fire at a property in Northstead in Scarborough.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue received a call at 8.24pm yesterday (December 30).

Cews from Scarborough and Filey responded to reports of a fire in a residential property.

The fire was extinguished using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.

The fire service log said: "The cause is believed to be deliberate."

North Yorkshire Police have confirmed they are involved in the investigation.

A spokeswoman said: "We were called at 8.27pm on December 30 to a fire at a property in Northstead, Scarborough.

"It is believed to be suspicious and an investigation is ongoing in partnership with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

"No arrests have been made at this stage."
