Police appeal after assaul

Scarborough police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in the town.

It occurred at around 10.30pm on Friday 18 July, at the bottom of St Nicholas Cliff Gardens, near to the entrance for Foreshore Road.

Two men, aged 21 and 26, had been having a heated argument, which resulted in a fight.

As a result of the incident the 26-year-old man suffered a cut to his head and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

PC Ryan Lyth, of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “At the time of the incident I believe there was a large number of people in the area. If you witnessed the fight or can help to identify the man responsible, I ask you to come forward and contact the police straight away.”
