Scarborough Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident involving a BB gun in the town centre on Saturday afternoon.

At around 2.10pm, officers received reports that a man was firing a BB gun outside Cash Converters in Northway.

Officers attended the scene and immediately arrested a 32-year-old man and seized the BB gun.

To assist police enquiries, officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 2pm and 2.15pm and saw the incident unfold to contact them.

Although no reports of anyone being injured have been received by the police, officers want anyone who believes they have been hit by the pellets to contact them without delay.

PC David Meer of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Although a man has been arrested in connection with the incident, it’s still vitally important that anyone who saw the man and the BB gun either inside the Cash Converters store or on Northway, gets in touch with us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for PC David Meer. Or you can email david.meer@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
