Police called to dog incident

THREE police vans were called to deal with an incident involving a man and his four dogs.

Officers were called to Aberdeen Walk at 10.45am yesterday after reports from the public about a man hitting his dogs. The incident occurred outside the Job Centre, where the dogs are often seen waiting outside for their owner.

They were even photographed on one occasion, and went on to appear on Have I Got News for You’s caption competition.

When police arrived yesterday they found the man was possibly drunk, and became abusive towards officers.

He told police his dogs were on heat and was trying to stop them mating.

The dogs were put in a police van while officers dealt with the man.

They were later returned to him, and the man was not charged following the incident.
