Police helicopter helps Scarborough search for man who allegedly made violent threats to woman

A man was arrested after the police helicopter was called out to Scarborough.

Officers received reports that a man had made violent threats towards a woman in Royal Avenue at 11pm on Thursday.

The victim, a woman in her mid-20s, suffered minor injuries in the incident. She is being supported by the police while enquiries continue.

The police helicopter was deployed to help officers on the ground search for the man.

At 12.05am, a 21-year-old man was arrested at Plantation Hill.

He has been released on conditional bail.

Witnesses to the incident or anyone with information are asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option one, and speak to the force control room.
