Police hunt suspect after town assault - Do you recognise him?

Police in Scarborough are appealing for the public’s assistance to identify a man wanted in connection with an assault in the town.

It occurred on St Thomas Street, at approximately 2.50am on Sunday 13 February, when two men attacked two men they didn’t know.

One of the victims was knocked to the ground before being kicked in the head and body.

The suspect was restrained by members of the public but made off from the scene before officers could arrest him.

He is described as being white, approximately 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall with a medium build. At the time of the assault he was wearing a black tee shirt and dark coloured trousers.

Two men aged 19 and 20 and a 20-year-old woman, who are all from Scarborough, were arrested following the assault.

The woman was given a penalty notice for disorder before being released.

The 19-year-old man has been released on police bail while police enquiries continue.

The 20-year-old man has been charged with being drunk and disorderly and resisting a police officer. He will appear at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Friday 25 February.

Police Constable Lee Smith, of the Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I am urging anyone who can identify the man to contact me as soon as possible as I need to speak to them urgently.”
