Scarborough police are appealing for the public’s help in trying to track down a wanted man who needs to be returned to jail.
Jack Watling, 25, is believed to have stolen from shops in York and Scarborough, as well as breaching a court order.
He is described as white, around 5ft 10in tall, with a medium build and short mousey hair.
Although Watling’s whereabouts are unknown, it is thought he may be in the area.
Inspector Garry Ridler, of Scarborough Police, said: “Jack, if you see or hear this appeal, I strongly advise you to hand yourself in. We are not going to stop our search for you until you are in custody.
“We have already visited a number of addresses where we believe that Watling has links and will continue to do so until he is behind bars.
“I am taking this opportunity to warn anyone, who believes that they are protecting Watling by not reporting his whereabouts to the police, that as well making the inevitable outcome worse for him, they may also be committing offences by shielding him. If this is the case, they face the very real prospect of arrest and prosecution. So, take the sensible option and contact the police immediately.
“I am also keen to speak to anyone who may have seen Watling and can help to locate him to custody and ask that they get in touch,” he added.
Anyone who can help locate Jack Watling should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
