Police investigate alleged attack on man and woman in Scarborough

The pair were walking along Castle Road just after midnight on Saturday when they were approached from behind by a man near the junction with Sussex Street.

He is reported to have started an argument and is alleged to have assaulted them both.

Officers are trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and are keen to speak to two people who they believe may have seen what happened.

A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released while under investigation.
