Police investigating after dog allegedly jumps into pram and scratches eight-month old baby in Scarborough

Police in Scarborough are investigating after a woman reported a dog jumping into the pram of her eight-month old baby.

The reported incident occurred on Falsgrave Road in Scarborough, near a grassy area close to Sainsbury's at around 2.45pm on Tuesday (April 21).

A 19-year-old woman told the police that a dog jumped up at her eight-month-old daughter while in her pram and scratched the child's face causing a cut on the bridge of her nose.

The dog was described as a blue Staffordshire Bull Terrier which was off its lead and not wearing a collar.

Both the dog and the man who was with it left the area via the cinder track.

The man was described as white, aged late 20s, 6ft tall, slim build, brown medium length hair, stubble on chin and he was wearing a black jacket and blue tracksuit bottoms.

Police enquiries including checking CCTV in the area have been carried out.
