Police have arrested a man and a woman from Scarborough after seizing thousands of pounds in cash and property.
Yesterday evening, police officers from the Regional Roads Crime Team stopped a vehicle in the town and following a search, officers found and seized around £6,000 in cash and five blister packs of blue tablets.
Following further searches of two properties in the town, which are linked to the man, officers seized substantial amounts of suspected stolen or counterfeit property, including clothing and toiletries and more large amounts of cash.
The clothing includes Berghaus, North Face and Barbour jackets, several pairs of Adidas and Reebok trainers, Nicholas Deakin and Rockport boots, a Giant mountain bike, men’s aftershave sets and various other items of clothing with tags attached.
The property, including the vehicle, has been seized by police officers while the investigation continues.
The man, aged 42 and the woman aged 41, were arrested on suspicion of acquiring or possessing criminal property. They have been released on bail while the investigation continues.
Superintendent Glyn Payne, safer neighbourhood commander for the Scarborough area, said: “This was an excellent result for our officers and the regional policing team. Demonstrating the effectiveness of our collaboration with other forces for the benefit of the communities of North Yorkshire.”
The investigation will be carried out by detectives from the Regional Asset Recovery Team.
