The team were alerted to put out the trailer, containing compressed straw and paper, at 2.33am on Sunday.
The blaze is believed to have been started deliberately.
A few hours earlier, at 9.33pm on Saturday, a fire crew had been out to a separate incident where a hay bale was on fire in East Ayton.
They allowed it to burn out in a safe place, under supervision.
