There’s a pattern to thief’s offence

THERE was a cut and run incident at a women’s clothes shop in Scarborough.

A thief took such a liking for a pattern on a skirt in Bonmarche that they snipped it out and put the rest of the item back on the rail.

“Someone decided that one of our skirts had just the right design and had to have it,” said manager of the Westborough store Jan Marsh.

She and the rest of her staff were shocked that some one would do such a thing.

“Perhaps there will be a cushion out there with this piece of skirt on it,” she said.

“In all the years I’ve been in retail I’ve never seen this sort of incident.

“My colleagues and customers in the shop at the time were amazed by what had happened,” she said.

The incident happened on Saturday at lunchtime.
