Trio in court for credit card fraud allegations

THREE men have been charged with multiple counts of fraud after they allegedly used cloned credit cards to purchase goods in the Scarborough area.

Constantin Totilca, 18, of Croydon, along with 30-year-old Daniel Matei and 29-year-old Adrian Diaconescu, both of Plumpton Terrace, Wakefield, are all accused of possessing an article for use in connection with fraud.

All three men are also charged with nine further offences of fraud after allegedly purchasing items in the Scarborough and Bridlington areas with the cloned cards.

Matei and Diaconescu are accused of then travelling to the Chester and Merseyside areas and committing fraud on another nine occasions.

All three men, who wore matching black tops and trousers did not enter pleas during the hearing at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrates remanded all three defendants in custody and said the case would be committed to York Crown Court. Totilka is due to appear back at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court today, while Matei and Diaconescu were remanded in custody until June 20.
