Two arrested after police spot van driving wrong way down town centre street in Scarborough

Two people have been arrested after police spotted a van driving the wrong way down a town centre street in Scarborough this weekend.

The incident occurred on Saturday night when the town centre was busy and police were out on patrol.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving without insurance and both the driver and passenger were arrested on suspicion of drug offences.

On social media, Scarborough police said: "Driving the wrong direction through Scarborough town centre on a busy Saturday night may cause you some unwanted police attention.

"The driver of this vehicle wasn't over the drink-drive limit but did fail to drive with a valid insurance, especially as he didn't have a full licence.

"He has also been arrested with his passenger on suspicion of drug offences. Updates will follow."
