UPDATE: Man taken to hospital after being found with serious head injury and unconscious on Peasholm Road in Scarborough

Police are investigating after a cyclist was found unconscious on Peasholm Road in Scarborough in the early hours of this morning.

The cyclist - a man in his 30s - was found by a passer-by not far from the crazy golf course.

He has been taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with a serious head injury.

There is a road closure in place at Peasholm North Marine and Victoria Park while officers work at the scene to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Anyone who was travelling in the area late on Saturday night or early on Sunday morning and may have any information that might help police is being asked to call them on 101, select option one and speak to the force control room, quoting reference number 12210143237.
