Witness appeal after woman injured

Scarborough police are appealing for information following an act of criminal damage in the town, which left a woman injured.

It occurred between 7.45pm and 8pm on Wednesday 24 October 2012, when someone threw an object at a window at the rear of the Wilkinsons store on North Street. As a result, the window of the store’s staff room was broken causing an injury to a member of staff, which required treatment at the Accident and Emergency Unit of Scarborough District Hospital.

PC Gemma Tate, of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This was an act of utter stupidity which resulted in someone being injured. Thankfully the injuries were not too serious. However, the outcome could have been far worse.

“I urge anyone who can identify the person who threw the object to come forward and contact the police immediately.”

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is asked to contact Scarborough police on 101, press option 2 and ask for Gemma Tate. Alternatively information can be emailed to gemma.tate@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
