Witness appeal in assault hunt

POLICE in Scarborough are appealing for information after a 60-year-old man was assaulted in the town.

It occurred in Alma Parade at 1.30pm on Monday April 25. The man who had committed the assault then picked up and kept the victim’s Apple iPhone.

A 23-year-old local man was arrested following the incident. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Lee Smith, of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident. I ask that they contact me as soon as possible.”
