A WOMAN has been fined and given five points on her licence after speeding at Flixton.
Joanna Lavin, 43, of Blackpool, did not appear at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court and a letter from her was read out.
The charge relates to an incident on October 1 last year on Filey Road.
The defendant’s Audi TT was clocked by a speed camera at 11.15am travelling at 47 mph in a 30 zone.
A request for driver information was sent to the registered keeper, followed by a reminder letter.
A response was received on December 19 stating that Lavin was the owner.
A fixed penalty notice offer was sent out on December 20, but no response was received, so the defendant was summonsed.
It was noted that the defendant already had six points on her licence for speeding.
A late guilty plea was received by post, with Lavin apologising for the delay. She explained that her car was for sale and had been taken on a test drive that day, and that she believed this incident may have happened when someone else was driving.
Lavin was given five points, fined £175 and ordered to pay £45 costs.
