Woman punched in face

SCARBOROUGH police are appealing for information following an assault on Columbus Ravine.

It occurred at about 9.30pm on Wednesday, when a 21-year-old local woman was punched in the face.

She had been approached on Hoxton Road by a man and woman who asked for a cigarette. The victim told the couple that she did have one and all three then head towards Columbus Ravine.

Near to the junction with Franklyn Street the victim was punched in the face by the woman before being assaulted by the man.

Following the assault the suspects headed towards Northway.

The woman was taken to Scarborough Hospital where she was treated for a suspected broken nose.

The first suspect police would like to trace is a woman, 5ft 5in tall with a chubby build and long dark hair. The only description of the man is that he is tall and skinny.

PC Georgina Hanson, of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or can help to identify the pair responsible and ask that they contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen the suspects as they left the area.”
